As we take giant strides towards strategic positioning in the Sub-Sahara African region, a major focus for DeltaTek Group is to build capacity in the region. Over the years we have played a significant role in Capacity Building in Nigeria, our commitment and passion has made Nigerian Content Vision a reality. In the last couple of years we have taken this same passion to Ghana, Equatorial Guinea and now in Angola and will carry on these efforts in other countries in the sub-Sahara African region as they discover oil.
As DeltaTek Group, we have a great sense of responsibility to build capacity in Human Capital and Infrastructure in the Sub-Sahara African region. We plan to achieve this by identifying competencies and skill gaps that exist in the region and put in place programs to close these gaps.
DeltaAfrik (part of the Group) started operations in Nigeria in 2003 with a total number of 65 personnel, this was before the act and in 2004 a ministerial mandate was approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria to enforce 100% of Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Engineering Design (DED) to be domiciled in Nigeria. Before the mandate, DeltaAfrik was barely surviving because the environment was not conducive to help local indigenous companies have a sustainable business. This government initiative “Nigerian Content Policy” and our passion and determination to develop human capital with the support of our valued clients such as Chevron, Exxon Mobil and Total completely transformed the company from 65 personnel in 2003 to 705 personnel in 2012. Awards were given to DeltaAfrik by Mobil Producing Nigeria on Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and also by the Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) on human capacity development. This is our success story in Nigeria; therefore we have no doubt that same can be done in other countries in the Sub-Sahara African region.
On this journey which began 19 years ago in Nigeria, we have seen remarkable growth which has taken us beyond Nigeria border into Ghana and Equatorial Guinea. As we keep extending our frontiers, we are vigorously working towards our entry into Angola in 2013.
DeltaTek Group goals and passion focus on human capital development and to enable us realize these goals; we will continue to form strategic partnerships with the best-in class Global operators who have distinguished themselves around the world. We will consistently commit the required resources to develop human and technology to actualize this dream.
Our success story would be incomplete without mentioning our involvement and interests in other businesses. They include Aveon Offshore, Prime Atlantic Group of Companies, DeltaTek Engineering Limited, DeltaTek EG, WorleyParsonsAtlantic and DeltaAfrik Engineering Limited where we are Shareholders. For us, this is significant as we are able to contribute to the successes of these companies.
We are committed to delivering on our Corporate Social Responsibility ethos, and to further demonstrate this, we have in the last few years established two organizations, DeltaAfrik Charitable Foundation (DCF) and Impact Your World Leadership Initiative (IYWLI) as a way of reaching out to the socially under-privileged and the youth. It is our firm belief that in the next 7 to 10 years, the Sub-Sahara African region will see phenomenal development in Human Capital, Infrastructure, Technology and Power and we are truly privileged to be at the forefront of activities to make this Vision a reality.
